Under the same sky

Under the same sky, so far apart.

on the front steps of my darkened house,

A flash of lightning across the sky

Catches my eye.

I look up to see clouds curtaining the moon.

You’re standing under the same sky

Somewhere only the moon can see you.

A rain drop falls on my cheek.

I close my eyes and you’re there

The raindrop tracing your soft contours.

The wind is picking up.

Raging storm is silence to my ears.

In that silence I hear your name

Echoing in the empty chambers inside me

Tell me the wind whispers in your ear

Of sweet melodies, long forgotten.

Lost in my reverie.

Time melts into oblivion.

In stolen moments

With a hush inside and outside.

I open my eyes, the night has cleared

Transported back to the front step of my darkened house.

Till the next storm comes we will be

So far apart,

under the same sky.

Love,

Manal

  1. Wow this was a great work if we talk about symbolism. Cause how you compared a persons thought chain with a Strom was really artistic. Perfectly executed.

      1. Right I am in Jeddah. Difficult question to answer now, almost every country is protective now in hiring from outside, unless you want to move to Canada or Scandinavian country like Sweden / Denmark. But don’t know the job market.

It depends also on qualification, or he is totally fresh?

      2. O it’s great, well overhere the market is closed, the Govt has made worst kind of restriction. People are selling their shoes, and leaving the KSA.

The sponsors, don’t give the money to them properly in most of the cases. People live overhere for 15 to 30 years. And now the sponsor say, due to lack of business, they can’t pay anything. Making them illegal by not renewing the iqama / residence permit.

People are in really bad shape. So wouldn’t advice overhere.

      3. Don’t have any idea about my future, we don’t come under Saudi Law, I am working for a multilateral bank.

But our management has decided to do reorganisation and decentralisation as well. So all staff is blank, as to what will happened. We are in dark.

Who will be leaving and staying, so we are in mumbo jumbo!

About the economy, don’t ask how bad, it’s worst. The whole Small and Medium Enterprises business is gone, which is the backbone of any economy. Its just depressing and stressful of time.

If it’s not happening to you, than someone close to you is going through worst of time overhere.
